2023 Caribbean-American Interfaith Service

luncheon

This service was held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 10:00 AM Eastern

Since 2017, the Caribbean-American Political Action Committee (C-PAC) has memorialized Caribbean-American Heritage month with an Inter-Faith Service on the last Sunday of June.  This year was no exception. And, as is customary, the service was held at Peoples Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) in Northwest DC.

The service began with traditional African drumming followed by a favorite Caribbean traditional hymn, “The Right Hand of God.” It closed with the African American Anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing” which was penned by Bahamian, James Weldon Johnson in 1900.

The interfaith leaders included Rev. Benjamin Reynolds, Interim Minister Peoples UCC; Ras Dr. Wayne Rose, School of the Sacrament, Ras Tafari University; Dr. Carolivia Herron, Tifereth Israel Congregation; Mr. Alvin Seecharan, Hindu Temple of Metropolitan Washington; and Hajji Rooknudeen Ali, Islamic Society of the Washington Area.
